Scout Merit Badges

Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouts, Venture Scouts, Sea Scouts

Over 120 merit badges can be earned by any Boy Scout or Varsity Scout, and by qualified Sea Scouts and Venturers.  The Sons of the American Revolution encourages Scouts to earn the American Heritage, Genealogy and Law merit badges in addition to the Citizenship merit badges required for Eagle Scout.   Eagle Scouts who earn these three merit badges have a distinct advantage in qualifying for the NSSAR Eagle Scout Scholarship program.

We offer assistance pages to Scouts and Merit Badge Counselors who are working on these two merit badges:

We encourage you to purchase a merit badge pamphlet from a local Scout supplier or borrow one from your unit library.  We cannot reproduce one for you because contents of these pamphlets are copyright by BSA.

If you are a Scout in the Flint River Council and would like a registered Merit Badge Counselor to assist you with one of these badges, please contact us.

Many opportunities are offered across the US each year to earn these badges at an organized merit badge day or college.  Visit Merit Badge University for an opportunity near you.
