SAR Support to Scout Programs

The Scouting Committee of the Marquis de Lafayette Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution has recently expanded our concept of support to the Flint River Council, Boy Scouts of America. We actively recognize new Eagle Scouts in the Flint River Council and promote participation in the annual NSSAR Eagle Scout Scholarship program.     We now offer online merit badge assistance to Scouts : American Heritage Genealogy We are encouraging our membership to register as Merit Badge Counselors and are sponsoring merit badge sessions for the Flint River Council and troops. We supported Boy Scout Troop 175 to earn the Historic Trails Award, and created an assistance page for Scout units interested in completing this activity in Georgia for events from the Revolutionary War period. We have developed opportunities to support American Heritage and family history activities in the Cub Scouting program.
